Where patient data lives

Patient records stay in your browser, not on our servers

CogniStride stores patient profiles, session results and clock drawings in the browser on the device you use. Our servers hold your account and subscription, not your patients’ information. Here is what that means in practice.

Where CogniStride stores data Patient profiles, session results, clock drawings and effort ratings are stored in the browser on your device. CogniStride servers store your account and subscription status. Payment card details are handled by Stripe. Only sign-in and plan information passes between your device and CogniStride servers. What is stored where

On your device (browser storage)

  • Patient profiles: name, age, diagnosis, onset date, baseline scores, domain ratings
  • Session results, effort ratings, breaks, goals and clock drawings
  • Studio settings such as zoom, font, theme and pacing intervals

Data is kept separately for each CogniStride account, so two people who sign in on the same browser see only their own records.

On CogniStride servers

  • Your name, email address and a hashed (unreadable) password
  • Account type, plan and subscription status
  • Messages you send us through the contact form

With Stripe

Card details, billing address, invoices and receipts are handled by Stripe. CogniStride never receives your card number.

What this means day to day

SituationWhat happens
You open CogniStride on another computerYour account works, but patient records from the first computer are not there. Records do not sync between devices.
You clear your browser’s site data or cookies for cognistride.appPatient records on that browser are deleted and cannot be recovered by us.
You use a private or incognito windowRecords disappear when the window is closed.
You log outRecords stay on the device for when you log in again.
You cancel your planRecords stay on the device, but the studio can’t be opened until you have an active plan again.
You want a copyClinician Pro can download a backup file and restore it in another browser. Clinician Basic and Pro can export sessions to CSV.

Keeping records secure

Because records live on your device, the security of that device matters. We recommend:

  • Use a device and browser profile that only you (or your organisation) can access, with a screen lock.
  • Keep your operating system and browser up to date.
  • Store downloaded backups and CSV exports according to your organisation’s data policies.
  • Don’t use CogniStride for patient work on shared or public computers.

If your organisation has specific compliance requirements, please review this page and our Privacy Policy with your compliance lead, and contact us with any questions before adopting CogniStride.

Analytics

The public website may use Plausible, a cookieless analytics service that counts page views and events without identifying visitors. In the studio we only record that an action happened (for example “exercise completed” and which module), never patient names, results or any text you enter.
